New Leadership and Expert Working Groups
On April 16, 2024, aak-GROW/Croplife Kenya welcomed a new board of directors, bringing a versatile combination of skills, backgrounds, and experiences to enrich the association’s output and service.
The new board members are; Chairperson Mr. Wachira Mureithi, Vice Chairperson Mr. Mwangi Muthee, and Treasurer Mr. Manoj Shah. This team is poised to guide the association toward fulfilling its mission. The board also includes Mr. Hezekiah Macharia, Mr. Evans Mutuva, Mr. Joern Kraegeloh, Mr. Given Mudenda, Mr. David Ndegwa and Mr. Joseph Anampiu.
Additionally, aak-GROW relies on Expert Working Groups (EWGs) comprising specialists from member companies. These groups, including Stewardship, Regulatory Policy and Standards, Anti-counterfeit, and Communication, provide technical expertise and innovative ideas to enhance industry performance.
On June 18, 2024, the association welcomed its new EWGs through an induction session, marking the start of their new term. This session familiarized them with their roles, responsibilities, and expectations, ensuring they can effectively contribute to the association’s goals.
Commitment to Growth and Perception Shift
Throughout its history, aak-GROW has demonstrated a commitment to positive growth and a shift in perception about pest control products. Responsible use of these products ensures food security, safety, quality, and quantity, significantly contributing to Kenya’s economy. With agriculture supporting 33% of the nation’s GDP and 40% of the population’s occupations, promoting the value of crop protection products is crucial for sustainable farming, health and the economic well being of Kenyan citizens.
Self Regulating Umbrella Body
In Kenya, companies involved in pest control products have united to form an umbrella organization called aak-GROW/CropLife Kenya. This group includes manufacturers, importers, formulators, distributors, retailers, and users of pesticides. Essentially, aak-GROW is the backbone of the pest control product (PCP) industry in Kenya, ensuring these companies remain competitive in the market and avail safe and high-quality products to the nation.
