Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has strengthened its presence in East Africa with the opening of its first office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This strategic move enhances SGL’s ability to serve key markets in the region, including Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With a local presence in Tanzania, SGL aims to streamline customs clearance and last-mile delivery, ensuring more efficient logistics solutions for businesses in the region. Lars Syberg, CEO for EMEA (excl. Nordics) at SGL, highlighted the importance of this expansion: “Tanzania represents a growing market with increasing demand for a strong logistics presence. By establishing operations here, we are better positioned to support our global partners and capitalize on the growth we foresee in East Africa. This also allows us to maintain the high standards we uphold in both origin and destination markets.”
Jan Andersson has been appointed as Managing Director for the new office and will lead a team dedicated to offering customized logistics solutions for local, regional, and international customers. “Expanding into Tanzania allows us to respond to the evolving needs of our clients. Since launching operations in Kenya last year, we have seen significant demand from customers with operations in both countries. This presents an exciting opportunity for growth, and I look forward to driving our efforts with the entrepreneurial spirit embedded in SGL’s culture,” said Andersson.
The Port of Dar es Salaam plays a crucial role in facilitating trade across landlocked nations in East Africa. By leveraging this key gateway, SGL aims to enhance cross-border logistics and provide seamless supply chain solutions to businesses operating in the region.
