The 2025 edition of HortiFlora wrapped up last week at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa, marking its largest event to date, with 140 exhibitors. This year’s fair attracted numerous international visitors, highlighting Ethiopia’s thriving cut flower industry, as well as the expanding fruit and vegetable sectors.
What began as a small trade fair has now become a key event for buyers looking to explore a range of Ethiopian products, from flowers to fruits and vegetables. With a growing number of exhibitors and international guests, HortiFlora has firmly established itself as a major gathering for the industry.
Over the past two decades, the fair has seen significant growth. More growers are now selling directly to buyers, sparking increased interest from regions like the Middle East and the Far East. “It’s a true grower-buyer fair, bringing together the industry’s top growers and offering buyers the opportunity to connect with multiple suppliers in one place,” says Dick van Raamsdonk of HPP Exhibitions, the event organizer, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Horticulture Producers Exporters Association (EHPEA).

While Ethiopia remains renowned for its cut flower production, its fruit and vegetable sectors though still developing, are gaining significant traction. This year, these industries were prominently represented by both exhibitors and visitors.
