Coffee growers grappling with thrips infestations now have a new tool in their pest management programs. Fidelity 400 WG, a broad-spectrum insecticide, has officially been registered for use on coffee, offering reliable control of both thrips and Antestia bugs.
Fidelity 400 WG combines two active ingredients, Isoclast™ (Sulfoxaflor) and Jemvelva™ (Spinetoram), delivering rapid knockdown and lasting control against a wide range of insect pests. On tomatoes, it controls caterpillars, thrips, mealybugs, aphids, and whiteflies. For cabbage, it is effective against the destructive diamondback moth. Its expansion into coffee farming is timely as growers continue to face increased pressure from thrips and Antestia bugs, which can cause significant damage to leaves and berries.

According to the product’s label, the recommended application rate for coffee is 150 grams per hectare, with a pre-harvest interval (PHI) of seven days. Fidelity 400 WG stands out for its excellent translaminar and xylem-systemic activities, ensuring pests are controlled whether they feed on the plant surface or within plant tissues.
Additionally, the insecticide is effective against pest populations that have developed resistance to other chemical classes, making it a valuable rotation partner in integrated pest management (IPM) programs. When used as directed, Fidelity 400 WG poses minimal risk to beneficial insects and natural enemies, supporting growers’ efforts to maintain ecological balance on their farms.
Thrips remain one of the most challenging pests in coffee production and this development marks an important advancement for the sector. Growers are encouraged to consult with their crop protection advisors to incorporate Fidelity 400 WG into their pest control schedules.
