Colombian Floriculture Sows and Cultivars peace in the Territories

In the framework of Peace Week 2025, celebrated from September 8 to 14, Asocolflores highlighted the floriculture sector’s commitment to building a culture of peace through its Cultivating Peace in the Family program. This initiative, which began in 1999, has benefited more than 60,000 people, including workers, families, and communities, by promoting peaceful conflict resolution and strengthening values such as respect, equity, and harmonious coexistence.

This sector’s commitment has become a benchmark in the country. In 2025, as part of the 15th Congress of the Global Compact Colombia Network: Changing Course, Alliances for the Future, the eighth edition of the Recognition of Good Practices in Sustainable Development was held. At this event, the Cultivating Peace in the Family program was recognized in this category for its contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, through the development of methodologies and materials that, with the support of national and international facilitators and allies, have contributed to transforming violent behavior patterns into peaceful and creative alternatives.

Through educational initiatives, teacher training, and awareness-raising tools, the flower industry reaffirms that peace is cultivated every day within the family, in businesses, and in the community. We therefore invite companies in the flower industry to continue working on this commitment to peacebuilding, consolidating their commitment to social well-being, corporate responsibility, and the future of a country built on reconciliation and coexistence.

Participate in Cultivating Peace in the Family program’s Facilitator Training session in the Cundinamarca region, which will take place on September 23.
