First Flower Project in Burundi

The Dutch company NeBu Flowers is about to start in 2012 a new rose farm in the Central African country of Burundi. The greenhouse builder company Bosman is already busy in preparing the erection of some 210 ha of greenhouses, not far away from the international airport of the Capital City Bujumbura, near Lake Tanganyika, on a grounds allocated by the local government.

The entrepreneur, Mr. Euphrem Yamuremye, originally from Burundi, who lives many years in The Netherlands, initiated this project as a business project, but also with the target of supporting the poor country’s economy. About 80% of the farm’s workers are supposed to be women.

Burundi, located west to Tanzania, south to Rwanda and east to Congo Zair, enjoys ideal climate for growing roses.
