Why You Must Be at the Aalsmeer Flower Show

Celebrating 25 years of Trade Fair Aalsmeer – November 4–6, 2025

Every November, the world’s floriculture spotlight turns to Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, home to the largest flower auction on the planet and one of the most influential trade events in the global floral calendar: Trade Fair Aalsmeer. This year marks a special milestone: the fair’s 25th anniversary, and with over 600 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors expected, it promises to be more inspiring and dynamic than ever before.

Organized by Royal FloraHolland, the fair transforms more than 29,000 m² of logistics space into a living mosaic of color, innovation, and collaboration. From breeders and growers to florists, exporters, and suppliers, every segment of the floral chain converges under one roof; a rare opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together.

A Global Marketplace of Floral Excellence

For exhibitors, Trade Fair Aalsmeer is the stage to showcase the best of their craft. For visitors, it’s a discovery ground, an immersive experience of the latest breeding breakthroughs, design trends, and sustainability innovations reshaping floriculture.

This fair is indispensable for me,” says René Dings, a veteran buyer at Intermarkt Thielen, who has attended since its earliest days. “Here, not only are contacts made, but real business is done. Everything under one roof, that’s the strength of FloraHolland.”

Dings describes the show as a place of both efficiency and inspiration: “You encounter so many products, information, and people in such a short time. If you had to visit all these growers individually, it would take weeks. I definitely come here for inspiration, you always see new ideas and products.”

For buyers like him, the fair’s variety is a time-saving advantage; from plants to cut flowers, from logistics to technology. It’s where industry shifts become visible, from biological pest control and AI-driven marketing to more efficient cold chain logistics.

“You meet people here that you wouldn’t normally encounter in daily life”

As the Trade Fair Aalsmeer celebrates its 25th edition, it continues to be a vital meeting point for the international horticultural industry. Among the exhibitors is Arie Bouman Green Outdoor B.V., marking its 40th anniversary and renewed mission: “Together, we make the outdoors greener.”

CEO Dirk Bouman highlights the fair’s unique value: “It’s all about connection and visibility. You meet people here you wouldn’t meet elsewhere.” With perfect timing before the new season, a diverse global audience, and inspiring innovations, the fair remains a leading platform for networking, collaboration, and growth.

A Platform for Growth and Collaboration

For growers and exhibitors, Aalsmeer offers more than visibility; it’s where relationships deepen and markets expand.

The Trade Fair is an ideal opportunity to meet business partners, make new contacts, and present our product range in an environment that offers clarity and inspiration,” says Louis van Dijke, Commercial Manager at Van der Salm in Boskoop. His company, which has grown to 17 locations across the Netherlands and Portugal, values the fair as a direct line to the market.

“For customers, this saves time and provides direct access to a large number of growers. For us, it’s where we connect with regular customers and new international partners,” he adds.

This year, Van der Salm will also be part of the new Tree Nursery Pavilion, a central hub that brings together leading nursery growers. “Here, customers can gain ideas, see strong products, and meet the right partners,” says Louis. “These personal connections and the dynamic nature of the fair inspire us every year.”

Sustainability remains a core theme. Van der Salm now uses 100% recycled pots and is testing fully biodegradable options. “Consumers want sustainable, low-maintenance products that provide long-lasting enjoyment. Convenience is key,” Louis explains.

Craftsmanship, Atmosphere, and Evolution

For Rob Batist of Greensales & Promotions, who first exhibited at the fair in 2001, Aalsmeer’s success lies in its people and atmosphere. “The friendly environment and the fact that so many growers and buyers are under one roof make this fair unique,” he says.

Over the years, Batist has watched the fair evolve from an order-writing event into a relationship-driven platform. “It’s where we strengthen old ties and make new ones. Both we and our clients continue to benefit from the connections we make here.”
