10 years of Jumilia
During the recent International Floriculture Fair (IFTF), United Selections celebrated an important milestone: the 10th anniversary of the rose variety Jumilia. To mark this special occasion, United Selections brought together stakeholders, press, media and growers from around the world to celebrate
Jumilia’s 10-year journey “from a single plant to a globally popular flower”. A custom-made Jumilia cake and a beautifully designed anniversary logo formed the backdrop for the celebration.
“Over the past decade, Jumilia has become one of the most popular bicolor rose varieties in the floriculture industry,” says Peter Schrama, Commercial Manager, United Selections. “With its striking pink and white hues and flowers that last up to three weeks, Jumilia has conquered markets on every continent. Its journey began as a single seed and has grown into a world-renowned variety grown in parts of Africa, Europe and Asia, including China, Korea and Japan.”
“Jumilia is considered one of the top varieties in its field, perhaps one of the best,” he continues. “Its hardiness and vibrant color make it a must-have for growers and florists. It’s really gratifying to see how far it has come in the last 10 years.”
According to Schrama, this celebration would not have been possible without the invaluable support of several partners. “We would like to sincerely thank Soborji/Flowers Experience and Natasha Mironova for working with United Selections to develop and execute an innovative marketing project that highlights the beauty and strength of Jumilia.”
United Selections would also like to thank Jemi Bloemenwinkel from Amsterdam, who put together 10 exquisite Jumilia bouquets that were shared with industry influencers, including HPP Director Dick van Raamsdonk, in recognition of his role in organizing this year’s IFTF show. “In addition, we would like to sincerely thank Koen Meewisse, owner of JK Rosa, for providing us with high-quality Jumilia flowers that we were able to share with our guests during the event.”
Jumilia’s success is also a testament to the breeders’ skill and dedication.
United Selections respects the vision of Theo Segers and Paul de Bruin, the original creators of this extraordinary rose, and through their work and Paul’s ongoing breeding efforts, United Selections is sure to produce intriguing and inspiring new varieties.
“Jumilia’s anniversary is not only a celebration of the rose, but also a tribute to the partnership, dedication and passion that have fuelled its journey.”
