Tanzania Set to Host Africa’s Premier Annual Horticulture Expo in Arusha

November 20, 2025

Tanzania is breaking new ground in Africa’s horticulture sector with the launch of “Horti Logistica Africa,” a premier fresh fruit, vegetable, and flower trade exhibition to be held annually in Arusha starting June 2026. This initiative, spearheaded by the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) in partnership with the government, aims to unlock the vast potential within Africa’s horticultural sub-sector and elevate the continent’s fresh produce industry on the global stage.

Horti Logistica Africa models itself after internationally recognized trade fairs such as Berlin’s Fruit Logistica, Italy’s Macfrut, and Spain’s Fruit Attraction. It is designed to become a Pan-African professional trade event, gathering stakeholders from across the continent and the world. The fair will serve as a vital platform for horticultural growers, exporters, agricultural technology providers, financial institutions, breeders, buyers, innovators, and consumers, including hotel and tour operators, under one roof.

The official launch took place during the Horticulture Business and Investment Summit 2025 (HoBIS-2025) in Dar es Salaam, where government and industry leaders expressed strong support for the event. Gerald Mweli, Permanent Secretary at Tanzania’s Ministry of Agriculture, affirmed the government’s commitment to TAHA’s efforts, emphasizing that Tanzania is proud to pioneer this grand continental trade fair.

According to TAHA CEO Dr. Jacqueline Mkindi, the expo will bridge critical gaps caused by logistical hurdles and stringent visa policies that often prevent many African farmers and exporters from attending international exhibitions. By hosting the event in Tanzania, the expo brings international buyers and retail chains directly to the source of Africa’s rich horticultural supply chain, fostering new business collaborations and streamlined market access.

The event aims to cover the entire fresh produce value chain and its supporting services, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and sustainable practices to reduce post-harvest losses. Beyond business-to-business meetings, Horti Logistica Africa will host mini-conferences and workshops to facilitate knowledge sharing and promote eco-friendly approaches within the sector.

Horti Logistica Africa strives to become the continent’s foremost platform for attracting investment, fostering partnerships, and promoting sustainable development within the fruit and vegetable industry, ultimately positioning Africa as a global leader in horticultural exports.
