KFC Member Growers Celebrate Sustainability at Inaugural Floriculture Pinnacle Awards

The Kenya Flower Council (KFC), in collaboration with Absa Bank Kenya and Royal FloraHolland hosted the first-ever Floriculture Pinnacle Awards on September 12, 2024, at Lake Naivasha Resort. This event brought together top industry leaders to celebrate outstanding achievements in sustainability and innovation within Kenya’s floriculture sector.

The awards, designed to promote best practices that minimize environmental impact, were divided into three main categories; Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Good Agricultural Practices, with a focus on inclusivity across farm sizes. Fourteen awards were presented, honoring exceptional contributions to sustainability and social responsibility.

Carzan KS and Rainforest Farmland were recognized with the Most Efficient Constructed Wetlands award for their innovative wastewater treatment solutions, while Red Lands Roses won the Best Sustainable Packaging award for their use of recyclable, biodegradable packaging.

Sun Floritech and Wildfire Flowers received the Best Soil Health Management award for their practices that enhance soil fertility and biodiversity. In the employee welfare category, Timaflor Limited and Florensis Kenya Ltd were lauded for their commitment to workforce well-being, receiving the Best Employee Welfare Programs award.

The Best Community Partnership Program award went to Mount Elgon Orchards Ltd and Kisima Farm Limited for their initiatives in supporting local communities, while Sosiani and Kisima Farm Limited also took home the Best Organic Waste Management award for their innovative waste recycling practices.

The event concluded with Flamingo Horticulture (Kingfisher Farm), Kariki Juja Farm, and Florencia Blooms Ltd being honored for achieving the Least Number of Non-Conformities during the Audit Process, demonstrating high compliance with KFC Silver FOSS standard.

The Floriculture Pinnacle Awards highlight the sector’s commitment to sustainability, positioning Kenya’s floriculture industry as a global leader in sustainable practices and innovation.
