Ethiopia unveils its 10-Year National Horticulture Strategy

On July 21, 2025, Ethiopia’s agricultural landscape witnessed a pivotal event with the official introduction of the 10-Year National Horticulture Strategy and Enset Development Flagship. This significant occasion, took place at the Skylight Hotel,and gathered distinguished government officials and key stakeholders to present a strategic framework aimed at transforming horticulture and enset farming across the country.

This all-encompassing strategy is crafted to greatly improve food and nutrition security, promote export diversification, enable import substitution, and supply vital raw materials for agro-processing. Additionally, it seeks to foster infrastructure development, enhance productivity, and generate sustainable employment opportunities throughout Ethiopia.

Led by the Ministry of Agriculture, this ambitious project reflects the committed collaboration with a diverse range of partners. Notable contributors include the Ethiopian Horticulture Producers and Exporters Association (EHPEA), the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), the Ethiopian Agricultural Authority, SNV, RTI, the American State Department, and numerous other esteemed organizations.
