MPS (Milieu Project Sierteelt) has completed a reassessment of 29 active substances used in crop protection agents as part of its environmental indicator system, MPS-MIND. This reassessment considers the substances’ age and the quantities used by all MPS-ABC participants over the past year, ensuring the environmental impact scores remain accurate and up-to-date.
The updated categorization of these substances will take effect from December 29, 2025 (Period 1, 2026), and will be reflected in the MPS record-keeping environment according to the environmental zone (EZ) applicable to each business location. The reassessment is important because new data on these substances, such as toxicity and environmental risk, may have emerged, prompting changes in how they are classified.
Environmental zones are crucial to these evaluations since local environmental factors affect the risk potential associated with using crop protection agents. Each business’s qualification overview will indicate its environmental zone, accessible via the Customer Portal.
This regular reassessment promotes sustainable agriculture by helping growers better understand and manage the environmental risks of the crop protection products they use.
MPS encourages users to review their qualification overviews to understand how these changes might affect their environmental indicator scores. For further information or clarifications, contact the MPS support team directly.
