IFTF 2024 will showcase tropical flowers and roses sourced from Colombia and Ecuador, along with summer blooms from Kenya.
The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is set to showcase an extensive selection of cut flowers and floral specialties from Ecuador, Colombia, and Kenya at the International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF), taking place from November 5th to 7th, 2024. This presentation will feature the distinctive ‘Flor de Inirida’ along with other tropical blooms from Colombia, summer flowers from Kenya, and exquisite roses from Ecuador. The initiative has welcomed numerous new cut flower producers into its program, many of whom will be attending the IFTF in Vijfhuizen, near Amsterdam, for the first time. Interested buyers will have the opportunity to connect with approximately 15 small and medium-sized enterprises at the IPD stand located in Hall 4, Stand B4.20.
“Flor de Inirida”: A Colombian Specialty
The ‘Flor de Inirida’, often referred to as ‘eternal flowers’, is a remarkable variety known for its striking red and white blooms. These endemic flowers thrive in challenging conditions, demonstrating resilience against droughts and floods. The Colombian company ‘Liwi’ has pioneered a cultivation method for these unique flowers, making it the first and only producer to offer these special, long-lasting cut flowers from its own farms.
In addition to the ‘Flor de Inirida’, the Colombian exhibitors will present a variety of tropical flowers and cut foliage, including Heliconias and Lilies of the Valley, as well as pre-arranged bouquets.
Emerging Rose Growers from Ecuador and Kenya
The IPD’s program features several rose farms from Ecuador, renowned for its roses, including ‘Rose Success’, which boasts over 65 different varieties. Ecuadorian growers will also showcase garden roses and a spectrum of colored roses. Meanwhile, producers from Kenya will present vibrant spray roses, known for their vivid colors and extended longevity.
Summer Flowers from Kenya
The Kenyan companies participating in the IPD are offering a diverse array of summer flowers at the IFTF, featuring Limonium, Bupleurum, Lepidium, Talinum, and Eryngium, with ‘Wilmar Flower’ among the notable exhibitors.
