Haceanda Holdings Superior Peats

Soil is an integral part in farming, and farmers prefer sustainable organic solutions to improve the performance of crops and increase yield, to synthetic inputs that eventually destabilize the soil PH. Haceanda Holdings Ltd offers sustainable solutions with their premium peats that are produced from coconut husks.

Having been in the industry for years, Roselyn Wakeanda says Haceanda’s products are tailored for superior plant growth and sustainability in flower and vegetable farming. The first product is the Nazi peat, derived from the coconut husk and offers unmatched benefits for your plants. It has superior water retention and aeration properties that creates an optimal growing environment by ensuring healthier roots and vibrant growth.

Additionally, there is the Nazi fibre, a by-product of the coconut that comes from the coconut husk used for mulching in the agricultural sector and also used in artwork to make flower mats, door mats, brushes, seat covers and mattresses.

Then there are the biomass pellets, an alternative source of energy to charcoal. It is used in a specialized jiko that contains energy reducing waste and making it it’s cost friendly.

What makes these products superior and set them apart is that there are no synthetic additives used in their production. The pellets are condensed and binding is done using maize starch and molasses.

The Nazi peat, is suitable and heavily relied on by flower farmers for propagation. A specialized form of the product, with a different substrate is available to vegetable farmers, making the product a premium additive in horticulture as farmers move from nursery beds to tray pellets, which are more reliable for propagation.

Additionally, the peat has high water retention capability and can be used for a long period of time due to the mineral content which is suitable for seedlings and poses no danger to young plants.

Hacaenda’s products are locally produced and given their understanding of the Kenyan farmers and their needs, they are preferable to imports. To stem skepticism, it is advised to try out a sample of the products to ascertain their performance.

“So do not be hesitant, come and try it out, and trust me, I know it will work out for you,” says Roselin of Hacaenda Holdings Ltd.
